Penultimate

Penultimate is the word that the CEO taught me today. It means second to last. He told me this because today was my second to last day at Nationwide Medical.

This doesn't seem like the perfect forum for this, but I feel unbalanced right now and I just need to write it down where someone else can read it. This place is safe because some of my facebook friends work with me at Nationwide. I'm fairly certain that if one of my co workers was going to be attending SFTS as well, i would have heard about it by now.

As I neared the end of my time at Nationwide, I realized I could not leave without telling the owner and the CEO that my boss was a less than perfect manager. Actually, everyone in my department was counting on me to say something because they were to scared to do it themselves. My original plan was to write a letter and give it to them when I went back in two weeks to pick up my last pay stub.

But, they took me out to lunch today and asked me how I felt about how the department was doing. So, I told them about my boss. A month ago, I was really angry with her and decided that I was basically going to ensure that she got fired when I left. She's been pretty much leaving me alone lately, so my anger lost its edge, and when I was talking to them, I think I made her sound not so bad.

It's not that I really wanted to get her fired, but I almost feel like I let everyone down. The CEO and the owner still want me to write the letter. She might not get fired after all, but hopefully they'll talk to her and hopefully she'll change.

Why do I feel so weird?

The countdown continues

So, this is my last week at Nationwide Medical, Inc., the company where I have worked for over four and a half years. It's the longest that I've ever stayed at one job. Things haven't been so great there for the last year or so though, so Friday can't come soon enough. I will miss the people there for the most part, but I will not miss by boss.

Once I'm no longer working there, I'll finally have time to start getting all of my things together for the move and I'm going to try to write at least one essay per day from the inquirer forms. I'm still in school until August 12th, but that will be much easier to deal with once I'm no longer working.

I can't believe how fast this is all happening!!!!

P.S. I seem to be having trouble commenting on other posts....is there something special I need to be doing?

next up for introductions

Catching up on e-mails and other assorted tidbits I see the invitation to join this group. Cool. I will be one of the MDiv students beginning in September. For a while I had a first graders response to God's call - you know, cover your ears, close your eyes, bow your head, start saying nananananana I don't hear you - and wait for it to move on to someplace else. In November 2007 I took one of my daughters to TGIF at SFTS and kept the '72 Hours' literature. In April 2008 my wife and I went to the Discernment Retreat where God's call was very clear. My wife and I, along with our 10 year old granddaughter are moving into a townhouse next month. We look forward to seeing where God leads us. We look forward to making lots of new friends too!

Book Information for Hebrew

Hi guys,

Moa Imchen, your Hebrew professor for the Fall, has made his book list for Hebrew available..... Let me know if you have any questions... If you are like many people in my class, you might be thinking: HEBREW--HEBREW--- Don't you read & write that backwards??!??!?! For some, the language courses are so much fun and for others they can be quite challenging, but those of us who have already taken the classes are more than happy to share our bits of wisdom.....

peace,
Elizabeth

Last day of work.

So yesterday was my last day of Work.  I worked at Scheels (a small sporting goods chain of 23 stores mostly in the midwest with 2 stores in Montana, and one in Nevada), our store is the largest sporting goods store in Montana and I was an Assistant Store Leader (assistant manager).  It was a surreal day with everyone hugging me and bringing me cakes and other sweets, I really felt loved, and will miss everyone there.  After only three years I really felt like I was home there.  Now I am moving on to do what God has planned for me, so I had to leave the comfort zone of my familiar job.

I am spending the next week at the camp where I heard my calling, and will follow that up with a week prepping my parents duplex I have been renting to sell.  I still have some work to do patching the drywall seems on a couple walls, painting, and then packing my stuff up for storage or the trip to San Anselmo.  The following two weeks will be spent climbing in the Tetons, and camping in the back country of the Bob Marshal Wilderness and Glacier Park.  I look forward to taking road trips with some of you to Yosemite this year (because it is so much more fun with a group of people!).

In just over a month we should all be settling in and getting ready for classes to start!  I can't wait to meet everyone!

Photos of Housing

Hi all.... These first two photos are of the road along the way to Oxtoby apartments and Oxtoby (exterior view). These next photos are of Hunter & Landon halls... They look very much the same on the outside.... Here are some exterior photos: The first photo includes a room outline of Landon (although it is a bit difficult to see).... I hope that these helps to start envisioning housing....

Hi Everyone!

I guess I'll be the third one to introduce myself here...

My name is Charles Wei and I will be joining you all from Santa Rosa Valley, CA which is in Ventura County. I was called to the ministry many many years ago, I think when I was a freshman or sophomore in high school, but I fought it for a long time. At that point in my life, I pretty much hated school and could not imagine the amount of school I would have to go through to become a pastor, so I spent the better part of a decade trying to bargain my way out of it.

As we all know, in a fight between you and God, God will win, and I eventually resigned myself to this fact and went back to school. I'm about to finish my bachelors degree in business management at California Lutheran University and will have approximately a week and a half after I graduate to get everything together and move up to beautiful San Anselmo! I don't want to complain, because I've found that I actually enjoy school now, especially since I know what I'm supposed to be doing with my life. It's just funny sometimes the things that God makes us do.

For anyone that has not yet had a chance to visit the campus, let me just tell you that it is beautiful! I have spent two weekends there already and have gotten a chance to talk to some of the students and professors there. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and it still blows my mind when I think of how much I learned during those four short days. To think of how much I will learn in four years takes my breath away.

To wrap it up, I cannot express how excited I am to start this new chapter of my life! I can't wait to meet you all!

P.S. Beer and Theology ROCKS!!!!!!!!

New Information-- Posting to Blog & Financial Aid

Happy July to you all! I hope that the summer has been treating you well and that you are getting excited about the upcoming school year.

I want to bring your attention to a few things: First of all, we have a few new additions to our incoming class list; since I last wrote, two more students have enrolled to take courses this fall. Welcome to our blog!

Also, I want to encourage you all to write a brief paragraph about yourself on the blog, if you’d like… a way to introduce yourself before we all get to meet face-to-face. My class really enjoyed our pre-seminary “blog” correspondences--- If you bring it up to some of us, you’ll still hear a lot of uproarious laughter and story-telling. Feel free to make the blog your own.

* To actually post on the blog, you need to become an “author” to the blog… I just sent an invitation to you all to be an author on the blog (Sorry to those who got this twice—I tried to cut down) . You should receive that at your e-mail address and respond… Then you can write on the blog. Let me know if you have any questions…

Michelle Walker, Director of Housing & Financial Aid, has a few announcements she would like to share.

Maintenance is hard at work preparing campus housing for your arrival. If you have been assigned housing, don’t forget that there are two steps you need to take before you come to campus. If you haven’t already done so, send your one month equivalent deposit to Michelle Walker. And then, call her to make an appointment to move in. As of July 9, only two folks have made their move-in appointments. Don’t wait until the last minute. Call early to make sure Michelle is available when you get to town.

** In this vein, I have been able to take some photos of this work. I will upload photos shortly of some of the housing for you all to see (especially for those of you who have not yet been to campus, so you can imagine what the housing will be like).

Also, Michelle continues:
If you are planning to apply for a student loan, please be aware that Michelle is going on vacation on July 24th and will not be back in the office until August 11th. In order to insure that loan funds are disbursed to you by August 28th, she suggests that you get your loan application and related forms to her no later than July 17th. Don’t forget that you have to have completed the FAFSA (fafsa.ed.gov) in order for her to process a loan for you. Instructions and all other forms you will need to request a loan can be found at http://tinyurl.com/SFTSFA09.

In the meantime, keep your questions coming! What is San Anselmo like? What kind of information would you like about the seminary & town?!

Yours faithfully,
Elizabeth (Class Shepherd)
