Another Hi!

How is everyone doing? I hope that your summer vacations are treating you well.... I look forward to reading more introductions, as you all have time! Things are more quiet here around the seminary community, but there is already chatter in the air about upcoming events and you all: the new arriving class! Please feel free to forward any questions for me about classes and other logistics. I look forward to being a companion along the way.... Take care! ~ Elizabeth

Greetings from Kaye!

Hi!
I'm Kaye and live in Benicia with my husband, about 45 minutes away from SFTS. I am newly retired, so will probably be one of the older folk to join the class! I've been Presbyterian as far back as I can remember and have felt a tug to go to seminary at least two other times in my life-back when I was finishing high school and once again when my children were small. This third time is the charm! In between, I've been active in my church, being a founding member, and have helped guide it through a number of unique, to say the least, experiences while on the Session. As a math teacher for the last 39 years in an inner city school situation, I've had a lot of opportunities to grow my faith. I have a curiosity-I would love to attempt to read the Bible in it's original languages, especially after having seen the Dead Sea scrolls! What is my ultimate goal? Only God knows!! :) I have two great children (young adults, really!) and a wonderful daughter in law. I love music, photography, traveling and being outdoors. This is the first blog I've ever written and doesn't really tell much about me, does it? We'll just have to meet in person!

Greetings From Ryan Schlimgen! :)

Hello there! My name is Ryan Schlimgen, and I will be coming to SFTS from my home town of Great Falls, MT. I have my Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Montana, and MBA in Human Resource management from Colorado Tech.

My call to ministry started very small when I returned to Great Falls from Missoula, and started volunteering with my churches youth group. Shortly after dropping from the USMC Officer Candidate School (I realized the reality of conscientious objection) I chaperoned a retreat at the camp I attended as a kid, and by that Summer I was counseling at the camp. During my two years at the camp I started contemplating ministry, and realized my calling. As for right now, I am not sure exactly what path I will be taking with my MDiv (I know God will guide me during seminary), but my personal preferences would be to return to the North West and Pastor in a church, or re enter the military as a non combatant in the Naval Chaplain Corps. Either way I know I want to work with the churches youth.

I am very close to my immediate and extended family. My parents are both from Montana, and I have three siblings: Veta (34), Victor (32), and Maggie (15).

As far as hobbies, I love and actively participate in just about anything that can be done outdoors. My favorites are: Rock climbing, Mountain and Road biking, Mountaineering, Snowboarding, Photography, etc...

I can't wait to meet all of you and grow in Christ together!

Welcome Incoming Class 2009

Welcome.... to SFTS. I hope that your journey here will be truly precious, a time to grow in your calling and the unique way your gifts can be used in the church, society, and beyond!

My name is Elizabeth Campbell, and I will be your class shepherd. Someone coined this phrase awhile back, and I can't even say exactly how it came about, but I like it. This is how I understand it: I, among many others, will help guide you in your transition to SFTS. I am here to help you with questions you have as you get ready to begin this adventure, and if I don't know the answer (which will likely happen a lot), I will usher you to those who can get you the information you need. But beyond just getting information about SFTS, this blog is for YOU ALL, your incoming class: A place where you can begin to get to know each other before coming to campus this Fall.

Please feel free to make this blog your own! I want to encourage you all to introduce yourselves here, so that we can begin to get acquainted. I will be updating this blog shortly with introductions about campus, campus life, courses, and more!

More soon,

Faithfully,
Elizabeth
